Trying time?

What do you find it to be the most trying time during your homeschooling right now? Is it curriculum ordering, lesson planning, getting your home in order, etc?

For me its looking over our books, planning out our calendar year, making lesson plans and getting the home in order before for our first week.

I have been studying our Geography book " Galloping the Globe" and finding books we can add to it as a resource. I am planning out our schedule for our Nature Studiies. Sometimes I feel like there is not enough hours in the day for me to work it out but I know I will.

I love all the planning! It's hardest for me to get my girls to do their work in a timely manner. They don't have a strong work ethic. They just aren't like me, but more like how my DH was as a child.

I love to plan too! I just have not had as much time as I'd like to with the boys taking a big chunk of my time these days. This year I am going to make a schedule we can stick to.

The most trying thing for me once we start is managing my two younger ones while trying to get everything done with the olders. Sometimes, I feel as though I skip too many important things just to get through the day.
The other challenging thing for me is getting our meals prepared in the midst of everything else that needs to be done in a day.
But I LOVE the schedule and am the most happy and content in my busy days. Summer practically drives me crazy to the point of wanting to do school all year. I love the routine that we keep and the times we have reading together. It makes me feel so close and connected with my children. When summer comes, I almost feel a disconnect with the children because we are not sitting down on a regular basis bonding over the lessons.
I am so excited to start back in a couple weeks!

I'm wondering how I'm going to juggle two little ones as well! I think the unknown of Alister's personality is hitting me hard tonight. I think the reality that there will be 4 of them has finally hit home. I shouldn't borrow trouble though and simply take it as it comes. I just don't know if I can handle a baby with colic again though!

We have a much better school set up now then we had when Everett was tiny. I had an actual room then and it was very small! There was literally no room to bring him in and it just didn't work. We were too squished and confined and Everett was in the doorway! We almost felt punished being stuck in there! When I moved our school to the dining room table things went much better. In our new house we have an even nicer flow with the family room right off the dining room. I can feed a baby, play with a toddler and answer questions at the same time! The girls can read to me from the table or sit on the couch depending on how eager Everett is to claim their books. He has his own set of last yrs books and workbooks that he hauls around and reads to be just like them He loves books! All of my kids have loved books, but his favorite books are our Pathway readers with the cute black and white ink drawings of animals. He spends hours going through the pages of his books pointing at all the animals.
