Question Wearing Baby

I bought a WAHM made sling with DD and was given a Maya Wrap Sling. We can't find the Maya Wrap anywhere. Either way we wanted to get another wrap/sling/carrier for DH to use. I thought he may like a Hotsling, but after reading about it and watching some of the youtube videos he's not interested. We talked about a Mei Tai, he's interested in this, but there are so many companies and WAHM that make them I don't know what's the best.

What do you use? What do you like/love about it?

DH is 5'10", large framed, and about 210lbs.

I have 4 carriers. A Baby Bjorn (which I hate and do not use), a ring sling, a Mei Tai, and a Moby Wrap.

For a tiny one I LOVE LOVE my Moby. Now, getting it on takes some getting used to, but once you get the hang of it its easy peasy. And baby is nestled so close to you that they are sooo happy. Its also the only carrier I can wear for an extended amount of time without my back and/or neck hurting. Only thing I don't like about it is after wearing it a while you will have to readjust as it starts stretching and sagging

Depending on the baby, the ring sling is nice too. I have not tried nursing Micah in mine, but the long tail is a nice coverup if need be. Micah doesn't like laying, so he is not fond of the ring sling, but I have had some foster babies really like it. As for getting on and off, the sling is the easiest

I really like my Mei Tai, but for older infants. I have yet to get it put on comfortable with a newborn. With older babies its great though, and has more support than wraps or slings. Again, there is a bit of a learning curve when it comes to putting this on, and at first you may need another person to help hold the baby. After a while you can do it quick and easy

For your DH, you may want to get your carrier with extra long straps or material. Just makes it more comfy for larger framed people. And it will still work great for you too!

That page has a list of sites that sell them. I am not horribly familiar with most carriers. I used something my parents used with me that they called a "front pack" and tried using a maya wrap, but never got the hang of it. If we have another baby, I think I will get a mei tai from a friend of mine that makes them (the haveaballbaby site is hers).

I'd give my right arm for one of your friends carriers! They look absolutely awesome!

We are using a ring sling right now. They are seriously easy to make!!!! My DH wore Everett for the first time yesterday and did great. He has the same stats as your DH. Its so adjustable that we can both wear it easily. Everett doesn't like laying in it cradled and I haven't mastered bfing in it (I really think a nursing shirt would help here!), but he loves being tummy to tummy with us with his head on your shoulder or chest. We were nursing bra shopping so my DH was wearing him and the sales lady kept trying to get me to agree to make one for her.

I'm going to make a MT as well for both of us to wear. I like the ease of plopability of a pouch sling as well, but those are better in custom sizes. I have one that fits my DH's frame and it was never comfortable for me. They are pretty easy to make as well so I'll just make one that fits my frame.

I plan to have a bunch of carriers this time around. My wrists are much weaker now then when I had the girls and even with his newborn body I start to hurt and get very weak if I have to hold him for more then 10 min standing up. He has to like being worn as he has no choice!
