Car Sickness Stories
Caught in the Hood
When I was about 8 years old, my mom, my 2 sisters, my brother, and I were
riding in my aunts new (at the time) Trans Am. At the time there were no
carseat laws so my mom was holding the twins (who were 2 years old) in the
backseat, and I was sitting next to her. My middle sister was on the other
side of me. We knew that my youngest sister tended to get carsick, but
apparently no one thought about it that day. She was sitting on my mom's
lap and started to cough like she did before she threw up. Since in were in
someone else's new car my mom did NOT want it to get all over. So she
grabbed the first thing she saw to catch it. That happened to be the hood
of the coat that I WAS WEARING!. She did manage to catch it. ICK! Then
Mom tells me to hold very still, and I am trying very hard not to get sick
myself. I somehow got out of the coat and we stopped to empty it. Now if
anyone seems like they are going to get sick, I inform them they are NOT
allowed to use my coat!
As far as cures for carsickness, I wish I knew! As I have gotten older, I
can no longer read in a car or bus without getting very nauseous (sp?)
almost instantly. I discovered the other day that I can't play Game Boy
either. Closing my eyes and cool air helps, but mostly I just need to sleep
to feel better.
