Candida Infection
A Candida Infection is an infection caused by yeast-like fungus, which occurs most often in the vagina, mouth (Thrush), and intestinal tract.

Caput
A Caput is swelling formed under a newborn baby’s scalp, as a result of trauma during delivery.

Catheter

Cleft Lip (Harelip)
A cleft lip is a birth defect where there is one or more clefts in the upper lip.

Cleft palate
A cleft palate is a defect in the palate; part of the upper jaw or mouth.

Colic
Colic is a condition where the baby cries excessively, especially in the evening without other signs of illness.

Colostrum
Colostrum is thin, yellowish fluid which is the first milk to be produced by a woman’s breasts during pregnancy and/or after delivery. Most often appears toward the end of pregnancy.

Constipation
Constipation is infrequent or hard and dry bowel movements.

Couvade
Couvade known as ‘Sympathetic Pregnancy” is when expectant fathers show symptoms of pregnancy.

Cradle Cap
Cradle Cap Greasy, yellowish and scaly crust on the scalp of an infant or baby.

Chorionic Villus Sampling (CVS)
CVS or Chronionic Villus Sampling is a procedure done early in pregnancy where tissue is taken from the inside of the uterus through the cervix, to test for chromosome abnormalities such as Down Syndrome

Dehydration
Dehydration is an excessive loss of water in body tissues.

Diaphragm
A contraceptive device that is fitted over the cervix of a woman’s uterus to prevent sperm from fertilizing an egg is a diaphragm. 2) The large muscle that separates the chest from the abdomen.

Dilation
The gradual opening up of the cervix to permit passage of the baby during labor is dilation. Progress is measured in centimeters; 10 centimeters is fully dilated.

Discharge
A discharge is a secretion of a substance from the body.

A listening device that a doctor uses to hear a fetal heartbeat is called doppler.

A doula is a specially trained & experienced labor assistant who provides many types of support for a woman who is giving birth.
