Week 1

You won't even technically be pregnant yet. Pregnancy is based on 40 weeks, or 280 days. When you figure it out, it is technically about 10 months (4 weeks per month). Since some months have 5 weeks, it figures out to roughly 9 months. The 40 week count starts with your last period, although you probably don't ovulate for another 2 weeks.

Even before pregnancy, when you are trying to get pregnant, it is a great time to start preparing and taking care of yourself. Prenatal vitamins can be started even before pregnancy. An increase in folic acid is a good start too as it can help keep abnormalities away from baby in the early weeks of pregnancy.

How do I figure my Due Date
There are two ways you can figure this. You can count 280 days from the first day of your last monthly period, but that is tedious. The other way is to add 9 months to the date of your last period adn then add 7 days from that. (Or in reverse you can subtract 3 months and then add 7 days.) You should get the same figure both ways.

For example. Lets say your period started on July 1. Add 7 days, taking you to July 8. Now add 9 months to that, taking you to a due date of April 1. OR July 1, plus 7 days taking you to July 8, minus 3 months (June, May, April) for April 1. This whole process gets more complicated in that women don't ovulate right at 2 weeks all the time. Each women's cycles are different. Some are 28 days while some are longer and some shorter. Calulating your due date is just going to give you a general idea of when baby is due. Ultrasounds will later be able to give you a more accurate idea of just how far along you really are. To let us calculate your due date for you, visit our due date calculator. Remember that only 1 out of 20 women will deliver on their due date. Your due date is simply a target, a goal to look towards and prepare for.

The age of your baby will be 2 weeks different from your pregnancy age. While your pregnancy is said to last 40 weeks, your baby will actually be 38 weeks. Because of this, with each weeks information we will tell you how old your baby is. If you are at week 20 (gestational age), your baby's age will be 18 weeks (fertilization age).
