your baby,
your placenta and all the fluid. It may hold up to 10 liters by the time it is done. As it grows, the lining and wall also thins out.
Tips for Mom
If you're pregnant and working, learn your rights now. What maternity benefits are available? Job security? Unfortunately, some employers will still try to take advantage of you.
Make sure you are getting enough rest. Listen to your body and slow down when you are tired. Reduce the risk of bladder infections by getting Vitamin C, urinating frequently, and drinking eight glasses of water daily. Remember, aspirin, prescription medication and even excessive vitamins can be harmful: ask your doctor before taking anything.
You may begin to notice some changes in your skin around this time. You may begin to see a dark line on your abdomen. This line is called linea nigra and will go away after your baby's birth. You may notice some dark patches on your face. These too will fade and disappear after the delivery of baby. The name for these patches is chloasma. Vascular spiders may appear on the neck, face, and chest. These lines are a small, red elevation on the skin. Varicose veins may appear on the legs and calves. You may also notice that your palms are read. This is called palmar erythema and it too will disappear after baby's birth. |
