Week 19
Welcome to week 19! Your baby is now close to 6 inches long and around 7 ounces. Your uterus is just barely below your belly button now.
Your baby is now at 17 weeks gestation and is almost 5 1/2 inches long from crown to rump (7 inches from head to toe). |

A cheesy coating called vernix is beginning to form on your baby to protect his skin from the amniotic fluid. Your baby's body growth is now catching up to his or her head. Believe it or not, if your baby is a girl, early ovaries contain early follicles with early eggs.
Tips for Mom
Dizziness-Many women complain of dizziness in pregnancy. There are a couple of causes for this. The first is that you may be raising to a sitting or standing position too quickly. The blood rushes from your brain, due to gravity and can cause you to feel dizzy. Another reason for dizziness is hypotension, or low blood pressure. Another is that you could be anemic. You may also have issues with your blood sugar. Hyperglycemia is also known as high blood sugar and hypoglycemia is low blood sugar. If you eat a well balanced diet, it can help regulate your sugar levels. Do not skip meals and eat frequent small meals.
Many women wonder what types of medications are ok during pregnancy. While you should always check with your doctor or midwife before taking anything, most doctors will agree to the following:
Tylenol
Acetominophen
Tums
Sudafed
Milk of Magnesia
Maalox
Robitussin
Sucrets or other throat lozengas
Stay away from Ibuprofen (M |
