Week 15
Welcome to week 15! Your baby is now close to 4 inches long and about the size of a softball. It is weighing about 1.75 ounces at this point.
Your baby's skin is very thin at this point and is almost transparent. A soft hair called Lanugo covers the baby's body. You have probably had an ultrasound by now and have seen your baby. The bones in the skeletal system are formed and are now strengthening.
Advice for Mom
Make sure you are getting enough calcium in your diet. Your baby is going to be requiring a lot as its bones develop, and if you aren't taking in enough, the baby will take your supply, leaving you without. Osteoporosis can occur later in life due to lack of calcium, as can dental problems and other issues.
Are you doing your kegels? Kegel exercises are exercises that tighten and release the muscles in the pelvic area. They help to strenthen the muscles around the urethra, vagina and anus. Contract the muscles and hold for about 10 seconds and release. Do 10-20 reps several times a day. Kegels are an easy exercise to do, even when working, as no one knows you are doing them. Don't forget your kegels!!!!! |
